North Carolina Transportation Museum shot of a track lining done the old skool way by the Buckingham Lining Gang. The Foreman would call out rhythmic chants in song and the cadence of his voice would set all of the men moving their lining bars in unison, combining their strength to move the track in one motion. It's a pretty cool thing to see.

Within the past year or so, TV's Jeopardy game show asked what these men were known as on the railroad. Gandy Dancer is the winning answer, or even Section Hand would be right. Jeopardy accepted neither of these, finding that "Lineman" was the right response which is completely wrong. Amazingly, Jeopardy never reversed the call. It's a good thing that neither of us was a contestant that night, right? :D
