Some kind of Plume Moth. That's not something I know offhand, lol. I was just looking through a list of NY bugs to id something and I remember seeing wings like that.
Gus what lens?
This was with an 55 f3.5 P.C AI'd + PK-13 + modified TC-16A + D7100. It helped that our resident dragonfly had just had just eaten and was in a co-operative mood and let me get super close. I could see her wings flinch every time the flash fired, but she stayed put

They are definitely an interesting creature. There are more dragonflies at the bird park than there are birds lol.
The Tamron 60mm is a very nice lens that often gets overlooked. I recently got a Sigma 105, but I was very happy with the 60mm. In fact, I can't bring myself to sell it. Lighter lens too if you are sticking with dx. Got it with a good rebate a long time ago. The 105 gets me 'closer' when I'm a couple feet away, but at the very minimum distance, maybe it gets me 1 more inch of distance. The focal lengths don't apply so much at the very closest 1:1 distance. The manufacturers don't make it easy to compare, they usually give you minimum focus distance which is from the front of the lens to the sensor. To get the minimum 'working distance', you need to subtract the physical length of the lens.Oops dbl post.
I really think a good macro lens would really help me out. I've also been looking at the B+W close up filters for a cheaper option, until i can gdt a decent lens.
I'm really enjoying the shots from you all.
