A couple of shots with the new D500. The Carpenter Bee shots were the most amazing for me. The AF and ISO performance on this camera is pretty sweet. Definitely a plus for macro. Really looking forward to trying it out on Dragonflies next.

Here is something to try. I have an old 105mm with an extension tube. I took that tube and added it to my old 70-300 lens. I was able to stay back a good 3 feet from the subject( for my bee and spider haters}
