I thought this was a golden California jumping spider (Messua limbata v californicus), but the pedipalps are way too large and the legs are spined. Have to check with the campus spider guy and see what the heck it is -- anyone here good with the beasties?
I am reliably informed by Lenny the Spider Guy (registered trademark) that my spider is a Oxyopes salticus or striped lynx. I have lots of green lynx about, but this is a new one.
I bought a cheap Neewer Ring Flash diffuser. So far I think it works pretty good. The construction isn't the greatest but for $27, I can understand why they took some shortcuts. So far it seems to create a good dispersion of light. The big white diffuser seems to make it easier to get closer to insects.
My D7100 was using a 105 f2.8 with about 24mm of extension tubes. Settings were about f11, ISO100-200, 1/250. My Nikon sb910 was set to 1/1 full strength.
