Not sure if I have posted this one before but there are too many pages to go back through! Jumping spider in my light tent, reversed 50mm f/1.4 Nikkor on a PB-6 Bellows. I put the guy in the refrigerator in a glass jar for about 30 minutes to slow him down.

At a conference in Arizona this summer, one of the field trips was to the Catalina Mountains for some desert night hiking and some "moth sheeting". It's basically a big sheet, hung in front of very bright light. It attracted hundreds of moths, but it also attracted a goodly number of predators, who came to prey on the moths. One of my favorite catches of the night is the, aptly named, White-striped Tiger Beetle - Cylindera lemniscata. Wicked fast, and only 7-8mm long, but oh my, what colors!20140725ATSNight 127.jpg

And the second.

After he had been dangling there for half an hour and no spider was interested, I set the poor chap free.

I just picked up a used 60mm af-d micro. These are some of the first shots with it. They're all hand held using the on board flash.
This is my first macro lens, this thing is addictive. :)

Macro focus stacking is pretty hard. I tried to focus stack this flower using a rail system. I need to learn more about editing my layer masks in PS to try and clean up the blurred areas.
