Finally found the French Press Coffee pot I wanted - ... and oh ya, a Hoya CPL for my 24-70 lens. Need to get a 82-77 step down to make it fit several other of my lenses.

You want step up rings...not step down. There is a difference! ;) If the filter is larger than the diameter of the lens, you want to step up to a larger size filter. If the filter is smaller than the lens, you will step down. Based on your size filter, you want a 77-82 step up ring. An 82-77 step down ring means the lens is 82mm in diameter and the filter is only 77mm.

If you buy a set of step up rings that stack a bunch together, you run the risk of vignetting. And some rings are deeper front to back which may also create vignetting on wide angle lenses. I like the Sensei brand. The first one listed should work fine as I've only ever purchased their less expensive rings. There are other brands available out there, too.

Just saved me a few $ and a few weeks delay - had a 82-77 step down in my basket at B&H - had not yet pulled the trigger. still debating a few other things.

might want to get a sensor cleaning kit.

Not yet purchased - but thinking I should have one - nothing too sexy - a simple sensor cleaning kit.
B&H has several on offer - and adding one of these to my current 'cart' will take me over the magic $100 to get their 'free' shipping

What is recommended?

I already have small and medium blower a bigger better one may be a good idea eh?

I'm thinking this is a DIY project

For starters, do you have a loupe. I have this one that Horoscope Fish recommended. It is pretty nifty to see inside. Do you have anything to do a wet cleaning? I use Photographic Solutions Eclipse solution (it's a bottle of fluid) and their Sensor Swabs. There are other wet cleaning alternatives--wet cleaning the sensor does a better job when there are more than just a few dust bunnies having a party. ;)

Variation on Learn First - Buy Once - I bought this at 82 for my 24-70 for landscape shots - had limited success on my first efforts. Viewed a review https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vMOsBG2JaZY Where 'back country photographer" Steve Perry offers his ideas on using a CPL - and one of his recommendations is that they are not great on wide lenses - when you have sky in the shot. No sky - no problem. And he hit the nail on the head of he problem I encountered this a.m. - don't use it if stitching a panorama "it wreaks havoc" - and it did.

Hmmm. I could try with the 24-70 set to something over 40mm (he said not under 35mm) or just take it off. I also packed my 17-35mm old Tammy to try to get the shot without stitching. Will see. Had I known all of this would I still have dropped $149 on that Hoya? Maybe. Or not.

Well, I got a Gimbal head from my buddy @Bill16. It is a Beike Gimbal. Got it installed today. I really like it. Used it a bit before the storms became to much of a threat. By itself it is heavy, but it makes handling the Nikon 200-500 much easier for me.

Yes it is photo related

Deliberately chose this canoe - wide body - transom (wide square stern) - foam stabilizers make it extremely stable - less chance to dunk my gear in the drink. wide enough to set up a tripod. And at 56 pounds me and the missus can actually carry it.

yet to name it - but "Unsinkable II" is up for consideration. (I actually owned one just like it in the 80's and they are unsinkable - you can fill them full of water and they still 'float' with an inch of the sidewalls above water as you sit in the water filled boat.)
