Rokinon 85mm f1.4 (w/chip) lens....yes I know I have the Nikon 85 1.8 but got a good deal on it and initial tests show a difference in bokeh between the two.... :D And manual focus is a challenge I miss...so....fun!

I got one of these because I got curious. After a few short days I have to say that I still prefer the rendering and especially the bokeh of my Nikon AFS 35/1.4G, but the cheap Siggy is not far behind. And I dislike with a passion the USB Docky thingy that has become a necessity.

But after all I'm on the fence whether to sell the Nikkor and pocket the difference. Too early to say quite yet. The Siggy is not bad, not bad at all, but not pure bliss either.

I go with the bliss every time.

I go with the bliss every time.

I would too but as it happens there's no clearly 'best' 35/1.4 on the market. Sigma is shaper in the center, Nikon has better colors and bokeh, and Zeiss is neither and unfortunately also manual focus. For MF I can use my old AI-S 35/1.4 which has excessive spherical aberrations and veiling wide open. Everything is a compromise at this focal length. Perhaps the best 35 mm is to use my old AF 28/1.4D and just get two steps forward?

Picked up Nikon refurbished Coolpix A this week. DX quality that fits in my pocket.

Bought a small backpack for my mirrorless gear. Lowepro Photo Traveler 150 Backpack. Looks about the perfect size for what I have. For now....

Today in the mail my Kiron 28-210 super zoom arrived! It's full manual with on my D5100, but i started on full manual cameras years ago, so I'm excited to get back to having a second nature in light metering. It is in near mint condition too. :)

Just tried it out, and it is well worth the $10.99 and pretty easy to use if your use to shooting manual mode like I am! Still gotta alot of play time with it, before I decide to make a move to buy the Ft1 adapter though at over $200.00! Lol :)

This was taken using my V1
80-400mm Nikkor lens
Set at F11
About 380mm
Several houses away
I'm unsure what my shutter speed was
Jpeg shot

Scott,

I've got the XBR55X850C model, and love it. I was pushed into getting it last year when my Pioneer Plasma got water damaged and was "not repairable", and expected to be underwhelmed because the Pioneer was so good. That hasn't been the case at all; the only regret is that I could have gotten the 65" model for the same price if I had been able to wait a year. But that seems to be the case with consumer electronics, doesn't it?

Just nabbed an immaculate Nikon F2, MD-2/MB-1 and AS-1 on Fleabay for about $300. Oh how I love this camera!

As the saying goes......."you can never be too rich, too thin, or have too many Nikon F2's!"
