Started looking into a Nikon 75-150/3.5 Series E as a low-cost alternative lens for shooting head-n-shoulders portraits. But found that the zoom/focus ring of it tends to creep given the age of the lens these days.

I did find, however, that the Kiron 70-150/4 was the same lens (optically), only a bit different on the outside. So I started to search for that, or the Vivitar version. All 3 were apparently made by Kino Precision Industries in Japan.

Last weekend, I scored a Kiron........ $30 shipped........ with a matching Vivitar 2x TC. Package arrived today....

Nice win.

Been spending lots of time browsing evilBay looking at vintage lenses. (Vintage is such a nice way to say old eh?). Been reading many forum posts and other webpages about use of vintage lenses. There is lots out there.

From what I've learned my D610 can take most lenses except the "non-ai" which are a little long in the tooth anyway.

Will love to see your pics and how that works for you.

I need to decide if I'll have the patience to go to manual focus. Looking at vintage AF only reduces choice considerably but there are still lots to choose from. Have not looked much at this lens. Tend to stay with Nikkor lenses but will look at others. My most recent vintage lens purchases was a Tamron.

The extra extender was a nice bonus.

Have fun with your new lens

I prefer 'legacy', or even 'cult'. Fact is, only 9 of the 27 lenses I own are what I would consider 'current' or 'modern'. It's amazing how well some of the glass fro the 70's and 80's perform, even on my D600s.

Let's create the "Cult of the Vintage Legacy Glass"

My glass is a mix too. While I have to say my $500+ 60mm VR Micro Nikkor is my best lens and it certainly is my most expensive the others are good.
On the D600 / D610 camera one can jack the ISO to compensate for lack of VR on some lenses and still get good images. Even 'just' taking it to 1200 can improve shutter speed enough to get a clear shot.

Of my old glass I think the old kit lens from my F60, the 28-80 D gets most use.
The push-pull 70-210 can pick up where the 28-80 leaves off.

I'm afraid my old Siggy 100-300 isn't in the same ball park.

I get a chance to stop into a camera shop in Edmonton next week which has lots of ancient photography equipment, might have a post for this thread after that trip.

I completed my RB67 kit today with the arrival with a near-mint 50mm f/4.5 Sekor C.

With the 90 and 250 I already have, I'm ready for any MF job.

what focal lenght would be considered Ultra Wide on a MF format cam like that ? I bet it takes nice landscape shots.

50mm is the widest rectilinear available for the RB67. There is a 37mm fisheye out there, but I have to interest in it. The 50mm is about the same FOV as a 24mm on a full-frame DSLR/35mm SLR. The 90 is roughly a 45mm, and the 250 is about a 125mm.

Don't you just love the US Post Office and the care with which they treat your valuable packages? It brings a warm feeling to my heart.

I know it's only a $20 ballhead, but it could have been a valuable watch or egg or something.

Anyway, I had a spare tripod with no head, so I decided to try an inexpensive head for a very lightweight camera.

It's a Beinke or something like that. I got it on eBay.

It appears to work quite well.

We'll just have to wait and see.

Now that my RB67 kit is complete, it seemed only fitting it be given a proper home. So I picked up a Tenba Messanger DNA 15 to carry the body, 3 lenses, some filters, film, cable release and light meter.

While shopping for the above-mentioned bag, I met with a former film shooter who had a passle of unused 52mm filters.

We did a bit of horse trading. Lots of color-correction filters, plus a couple of NDs and 2 sets of stack caps. And what appears to be color printing filters for a color darkroom.

Does bartering count as a purchase?

Well I just bought the INTUOS pro medium, and I think this is perfect for me. Going to take a bit to get used to but I like it already.

I have used the tablet to import and slightly edit these and then export, going to take some use to get used to it.
