Happy for you Pretzel! You've been waiting a while....enjoy! I highly recommend David Busch's Guide to The Nikon D7100. Buy it cheaper through Amazon. You'll learn so much and he goes into much more detail than the owners manual does.

You talking about the full 500 page guide, or just the compact field guide? Seems like the full book has a lot of info about lenses and general photography that I may or may not need?

Just got home from an early morning shop with a Tamron 70-200mm f2.8.
Every good lens should have a name: My precious!

Just wsh I had the day off work, but thank the queen it's a bank holiday weekend :)

EDIT: on the back of buying this lens, I just realised I need to sign up to the gym and lift some weight.

A Nikkor 28/2.8D AF arrived today.

This completes my 4-lens über-light, -compact, -portable lens ensemble that closely mimics what I used to shoot with film. I had a 20/4, 28/2.8, 40/2.8 and 120/2.8 back in the day that took about 90% of my Kodachrome images.

Now I'm 'back in the saddle' with a 20/2.8D AF, 28/2.8D AF, 50/1.8 Series E pancake (early version) and an 135/2.8 Ai.

The rest of the parts arrived today to complete an upgraded boom set up :)

Kupo Master 40" C Stand with turtle base, 40" grip arm with a captive grip head and a double headed 5/8" stud.

Steel baby boom arm (extends to 7' 8").

Impact locking wheel set. Apparantly wheels for 1" legs are rare, sigh..

3 way clamp with long 5/8" stud and grip arm support. The clamp/stud will allow me to mount a light at any height lower than 40".

Cheers, Don

Tamrac bags are awesome. I have the expedition 6 and absolutely love it. Can carry all my gear in it, really well protected, very comfortable and has been through the wars already and come through unscathed.

Worth every penny.
