I had a job coming up in cramped quarters on location so I picked up a "Tripad" on sale for $92.

It is a triangle/table device that fits over your tripod and holds a laptop. It quickly and easily snaps together and/or apart for storage.

Upon removing it from the box my first impression was less than flattering :)

Perhaps it is the fact that my Slik Pro X700 has leg warmers but it doesn't allow for much adjustment. And it is not exactly rigid but was fine for strobe work or delayed shutter release.

I wouldn't exactly call it a flaw but it is limited in that you can not adjust your laptop screen for optimal viewing while standing. The salesman did say they are designed for 15" laptops and mine is a 17"...

Anywho, I didn't trust the front lip to keep the laptop from falling off the slippery plastic surface so I installed velcro tabs.

It did indeed come in handy for the shoot and I will not be returning it.

I soon had the clients squatting a bit to view the images at the correct angle, he, he...

Cheers, Don

Interesting gadget. I guess it is much cheaper compared to what Scott Kelby was promoting with his tethered version although his looks much more sturdy.

Courier pigeon got eaten :-( now sent via Kookaburra.

Hey Scott - do you intend to use it and go wireless with your flash for macro work?

I never actually thought of it for macro work, its more for portrait work and even night time landscape work. I have a few ideas (I think lol)

[FONT=Verdana, Arial, Tahoma, Calibri, Geneva, sans-serif]Curious, what made you go with radiopopper over pocket wizard ?

Pretty minimal, but a recent purchase all the same.

I picked up a Lexar Professional USB3.0 Card Reader.

Oh yeah.... I also have "Understanding Exposure (3rd Edition)" and Kelby's "Photoshop Lightroom 5 Book for Digital Photographers" on order.

I doubt that is sturdier with the laptop off to the side and the whole unit being quite a bit wider...

Now you have two tripods in the set up :)

I was looking to minimize equipment taking up floor (tripping over stuff) space.

Cheers, Don

I wanted to get my camera closer to the bird feeder in my garden so decided to get a radio remote shutter release I could use from inside the house. I went for the Yonguo YN128 from eBay, it only cost £18 but I think I now know why. :(

It works great at short distances 1 - 3 meters but they claim it should work up to 100 meters away. I can't get it to work at 7 meters through the patio door!
These have been around for a while has anyone got one or got any tips our alternatives ?
The Nikon own solution is just at a ridiculous crazy price

Just ordered a Diat CM-294A tripod with DH5 Ball Head. A carbon fibre tripod for £137.99. I will give everyone my thoughts on it once it arrives and I give it a few tests.

Carbon Fiber Pro Professional DIAT Camera Tripod Monopod + Ball head For Canon | eBay

My tripod arrived today and first impressions are that it is sturdy, has a quality finish and it is just about perfect for my height (5'6"). I will give it a test with a couple of different lens setups at the weekend and let you know what I think.

Been thinking about cameras myself. My security company has them but they are way to proud. Now I have heard stories about the only thing these provide is for you watch yourself being robbed.

Its more for surveillance of what happens to my dogs when I am not there, I think it can be set up to record any movement etc. If it records a break in then atleast you have a positive ID of the burglar.

I decided to add a little "heft" to my D5100 and bought this Promaster Battery Grip.

Grip.jpg
While it does enable vertical shooting (with minimal exposure control) that is secondary for me. I have large hands and wanted to enhance the stature/grip of the camera body.

I also picked up an extra EN-EL14 battery so I have added to the number of shots I can take on a single charge. :)

Woohoo my Spider double camera holster arrived today! I'm not sure yet if it will totally replace my black rapid strap, but it is extremely well made and strong! I don't have the camera swing nearly as bad as I do with the strap! I'm really liking the holster system so far, and it works well with one camera or two!
It is pretty expensive, but your getting very good quality for the money. So I can't complain much about the cost.lol :)
I did buy a black rapid wrist strap too, just to be on the safe side while the camera is in use! I still have the bos tail straps on the cameras to clip the wrist strap to! :D
