i broke down and bought FoCal
Going to try and get it set up today to use.

I've played with the before. A couple pointers:

1) Make sure you use high quality, non-glossy paper to print the target on. We actually used some heavy card stock paper. Make sure you get the pure white kind also.

2) Light up that target! We put a curly-q 5500K bulb in a shop light and clamped it nearby.

I bought some matted photo paper and it printed great.

In reading the directions it warns against using florescent lights or LED lights. They say it will change the focus point because of the flicker rate. Going to find a good old fashion incandescent light to use.

I do like the 5,000K (daylight) bulbs though. I use them in my house all the time. It makes everything look so much brighter and cleaner. I started by changing all the ones in the kitchen and then liked it so much I am going through the entire house. One side benefit is when I take photos in the house I get great color.

Wow - can't wait to see a close up of the Comet 67P with the Philae lander on it !!

You have got to do some moon shots as soon as the clouds clear.

I just need to get an adaptor to connect the camera to the telescope, will have to do a bit of homework so I get the correct one.

Yeah, I've done the same also. Plus, they're WAY cheaper than the photography specific blacklight-looking bulbs.

This was a really difficult shot to take!

Tamron's 90mm Maro lens.jpg

If you're wondering why it was difficult I can tell you it wasn't because of the lighting.
It was because I had to take it off the camera body and replace it with my previous favourite lens! :)

Just bought myself a waterproof (45 feet) camera. Thought this one had best features for the money.
