Nice! Didn't know you were in the market. I guess now you'll be hanging out with @Pretzel from now on.;)

I'm just surprised any of y'all let me hang around here on a regular basis. :D

I've been going back and forth between the D610 and D7100, but decided to stay DX until I had the glass for an FX body. Besides, the wife has started itching to shoot too, so this helps us both out.

Just some cheap eBay stuff

Decided a needed one of those reflector things - I kinda liked the idea of a hand hold and a triangle is so much cooler than a circle or oval right? Why not. Cheap like borscht eh. (Well $12 - about the price of a good bowl of borscht).

And i needed some new lens bags - these ones say "MATiN" and feel pretty nice - kinda a foamy feeling material. Actually feels like it would offer more padding than my Nikon originals. I have more lenses than bags so need was the right word. Got four (sm -xxl) for $12.

And I like those white balance lens covers. Fit nicely - protect the lens and at the same time you have a built in white balance thingy if you want to bother to set your white balance before shooting rather than in the software after. All of $2.40 - last of the big spenders here. :p

For somethings like this I'm prepared to wait a few weeks and save a bundle.

Dang Chris, you had way less then 500 clicks on this bad boy. I took about 20 this morning. The difference is amazing over the D3100.

I told you that you were getting a great deal. I loved it, but wanted to go full frame more. The primal beast is a great camera though. You'll love it. I also wanted to downsize and think of buying a mirrorless for our trip next year to Germany. No way am I lugging my D610 and full frame across the pond.

You been to Germany before? I spent four years there. Had a great time.

Never been there, but or son is there for his 2nd time in the arrmy. He promised us a big tour of Europe. Too good of a deal to pass up! He's in Kaiserlautern (or spelled something like that). He was first stationed in Grafenwohr before they transferred him. Looking forward to it! Where were you stationed (if you were in the army?)

I was in the Army stationed in Darmstadt. Which is about 100 miles from Kaiserslautern. You're going to love it! Awesome place for picture taking. In that area there are numerous castles both standing and in ruins. The Black Forest is a nice day trip from there if memory serves me. You'll find the German folk friendly, more so once you travel out into the smaller towns away from Kaiserslauten. That D610 would be perfect for this. But I understand your concern though. I wish I had a better camera when I was there.[h=1][/h]

I'll mention that town to our son....I'm sure he's probably heard of it. Thinking of buying the Sony A7, which has a 3 year, no interest if paid in full credit. I'm definitely want another full frame if I go mirrorless, but don't want the 36 mp A7r. Who knows, I might end up taking the D610. It's not the camera that I worry about, it's that the lenses are so heavy. Lot's of lugging.

Since my Nikon days, i really have not spent all that much in regards to extras/lenses for my cameras. For the X-10, i bought some 3rd party stuff: lens hood, battery and case. If you ever look at the lens hood for the X-10, you will laugh at how much Fuji wants for it. I found it on Amazon for $10 from HK. For my X-Pro1, i bought two extra lenses during Fuji's lens sale. $787 for the 60mm and 50-230mm. I also bought a used grip for the X-Pro1. These are also very over-priced for what they are (the first generation are just plastic). Got it for $50 USD as opposed to around $150 new. Nothing new is in the future.... yet.

I wanted a second body and picked up this at the local dealer for 96€ working (lens was mine already):

20140812-D70s.jpg

First impressions:
- Great machine
- Mirror is a lot more noisy then the D7000
- AF goes super fast (on 18-105, 70-200 and 500mm) just like D7000
- ISO 640 is good if there is light (in twilight gets grainy quickly)
- 100% is a bit more then my screen, enough for my purposes and just have to frame a bit better with this one so I avoid cropping

myshuttercount.com gave (I expected more): 6376

Going to spend a nice, long time at a McDonalds nearby come noon to sniff, lick, and try 70-200 VR1 I might pick up from a local via craigslist. Condition described is 10/10 as is working order, ALL the original accessories, even the box, and all less than the cheapest copy I've seen on ebay/forums combined in even half that shape.

At the same time, will hope that the guy who emailed me about my 70-300VR won't flake, so I'll net my expenses in possibly the same week.
