Ordered Hoya 77mm Neutral Density ND-400 X 9 Stop Multi-Coated Glass Filter
I feel like I hit the Jackpot. Not one, not two, not even three, but four Gold Boxes came home today.
Found this package on a local used goods on-line trading post and for $1,000 I snapped it up.
Apparently the wife had put it up on line for a lot less than her husband thought it was worth. He was right.

I have been lusting for a Nikon 70-200 2.8 for a while.
When I saw this set on sale I could not pass it up.
Everything has been well cared for. All original boxes and packages and even all manuals.
Checked the shutter count on the D90 - 14,395.
By comparison my D5100 has 29,611 and my D610 has 59,042
So older than both by many years but has far fewer shots.
While we have a D5100 which has more megapixels and some other advantages over the D90. The D90 is a more robust camera and has much more advance style controls (e.g. front and rear dials for example) indeed the control buttons are very similar to my D610. It also has a internal motor meaning my full collection of vintage glass and AF-D lenses now can be used. And I told my dearly beloved it is her transition camera to learn more advance photography skills. She said she is OK in auto-everything but did like the feel of the D90 in her hands - one step at a time.
I was not looking for a new DX lens, and initially thought that this AF-S 16-85 would be just a little upgrade over the 18-55 kit lens we have but I think it is a real gem. It is still being sold today and not an inexpensive lens - London Drugs chain sells it for $999 today. Tried it out and it is mint. The reviews of it are stellar with the only complaint being it is over-priced and for the same money there are better choices.
The bonus item is a perfectly good SB-600 to add to my growing collection of flashes. Works fine on it's own and can serve as a slave in my CLS lighting system with either the SB-700 or Metz lens as master. Nice - even still has the original bag.
And of course the pièce de résistance a perfect 70-200 F/2.8G IF-ED VR. It is the version that was released before the current VRII. I've been watching for a good one at a few Canadian used lens vendor. Was thinking about the Tamron or Sigma version, even an older 80-200 2.8 which is still in production. This particular model gets great reviews (at least the ones on line which are a few years old now). But given I'm not prepared to drop over $2500 for the VRII this lens is perfect for my collection. It does not have the tripod foot. I might get an aftermarket so I can use it on my gimbal set up. Or not. The seller said he found no use for the tripod mount and that with the VR works perfectly hand held. A quick release plate can be attached directly to the lens and it can be tripod mounted. I suppose one could get a tripod foot for it. Hmmm? And yes they have the original Nikon lens bag which is not the new style 'sock' they now give us.

I have the Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 VRII that came with a bag. It isn't the sock style. It is a padded case with a zipper and fold-over flap. Congrats on the new toys! :encouragement:

Glad Nikon is keeping the real case with some of their product - I was sorely disappointed for the dollars paid for 200-500 that they include this 'sock' and not a real case. The lens is a beauty - the sock - well it's a cloth bag with some use, have not figured out what yet.
Back to the past,Argoflex 75 , on the left C-3 with 35mm f/4.5 and 35/100m viewfinder,(center) the right side is C-3 with 50mm f/3.5, in the center a 100mm f4.5 made in Us Sector of West Germany). Super Neato !! Yes they all work. and remember , "Avoid finger whack!"

yup a far cry from the D7100 that started me onto this magnificent journey of photography.
Ordered a MeFoto DayTrip tripod the other day. Small enough to live in the back of my car & sturdy enough to hold my camera.
