It was half price day at the Phipps Conservancy today for us old codgers so I decided to indulge myself and my 60mm lens



and lets not forget the tulips
I will post the orchids tomorrow

Of course, a trip to the Phipps is not complete without a visit to the orchids

I'd not recommend the Nikkor 200-500mm for a floral photo-walk, one uses what ones has. I came equipped to go birding and we went into the Muttart Conservatory Glass Pyramids in Edmonton. These are some of my shots with a 200-500mm 'close up' as in 10-25 feet from the subjects.

It is funny. When I was a kid the county agent would fine a farmer if he had to many of these in your pasture.

I share the agent's opinion -- unfortunately, we are downwind of the high school pastures and they seem to like growing the damn things.
