Is that a carnation, web. Use to work in flower shop and we had one variation of carnation that was incredibly sweet smelling and it looked like that.

Yes and it is quite sweet smelling. I like the old variegated varieties and we plant them in the demo veggie beds to attract pollinators and for tea -- sad to relieve stress (I prefer a strong porter).

So take a vase full of them and 6 pack of Porter and your in business. In this age of microbrewrys there is sure some fine Porters out there these days.

Don't I know it -- here in SoCal, it's not finding a great beer, it's finding enough time to sober up.

Oh, I know both sides too well -- my grandmother was on the board of the Chicago Temperance Union and my grandfather was a bootlegger. Lovely couple.

We used to grow several varieties at the college for our plant sales, but don't now. A lovely plant with great attributes, but too flammable for Southern California hillsides. Shame.
