Some observations, please.
If I focus my eyes on the lower left, it would appear that I am looking down the center of the flower; but if I focus on the upper right (say 2 o'clock position), it would appear I am looking at the backside of the flower. ????

One of those illusions. Our brain says light is forward, dark is back. When you confound that, as here, the mind's eye sees thing inverted until you force it otherwise.

No matter where I look, I see the back side of the flower. I tried real hard to see the looking down at the center, but I just don't see it.
