Post Your D500 Shots

Taken today using only the Tamron 18-400mm. So far it has potential but I did miss a lot of shots. The VR doesn't seem great at the long end, also I think I need to do some AF tuning. This was my first actual use of the lens though. Next time I'll probably bring a monopod.

Took the D500 out to the Santa parade in our small town - faster lens ( Nikkor 1.8 35mm DX) and pushed ISO up between 3200 and 4000. Shot A-Priority so shutterspeed was variable. Didn't notice that I had exposure comp down to -1/3 - gotta remember to check that, should have been + a third at least. Had thought I'd try the 50mm Siggy Art 1.4 but needed the wider lens (and even the 35 was not wide enough for some of the floats) and at 1.4 I was afraid the DOF would be too shallow, as it was moved to 2.2 to give just a bit more DOF. I did find working with gloves on (even thin ones) was challenging as I was using that mini-joy stick focus feature - found it really challenging to be able to push it in straight without moving it all over the place. It was only about 8 below but still needed gloves and wish I had had warmers ones.

learning to shoot with the manual Lensbaby Twist 60 - rather funky lens

One thing I learned in my reading is that this is best on an full frame - but my D610 didn't come on this Christmas Trip. It works well on the D500 but apparently the crop sensor takes away the best part of the swirling boehka (Mr Google spell check suggested my spelling was wrong - so it wanted to correct it to 'bonehead" not bokeh .... )
