Knowing that you reside in central Alabama, I guessed the Edmund Pettus Bridge. That's a great shot!

And we have a winner. It was a very sad/happy time in history. Sad because of the climate that brought this about and happy because it was the turning point to begin to bring race relations to a better place in the South. Unless you were alive and living in the south in the 50s and 60s you really don't have a concept of what it was like back then.

Really nice, Don! :) Is that spanish moss hanging from the trees? I remember seeing spanish moss in one or two of the southern states when I visited Florida, but it's something not seen up here in the northeast (at least not to my knowledge).

Yes it is Spanish moss. There is some in this area but the further south you go the more you see.

This is the George P. Coleman memorial Bridge
from the Yorktown, Virginia side. This is a swing bridge
rather than a drawbridge. The Naval Weapons Station is just down the river.
