is your camera connected to a computer when u do this? I tried this using the camera screen and my old eyes said r u kidding me.

No, everything is done in the camera. Go to MENU, RETOUCH MENU, then click on Color sketch.

Like the effects with the border on the squirrel and heron. How was it done?

In PS, draw around the subject that you want "outside" the border with the pen tool, then create a "new layer via copy" under the layers menu.

Add a second new layer, making sure it is placed between the one you just created containing your subject and the original, entire image layer.

So your layers panel should look like this (and in this order):

Layer 3: Subject to be outside your border
Layer 2: New Layer
Layer 1: Original/background

In the middle layer create your border as you wish.

Hey presto, your subject is sitting "outside" your border.
