Thanks. This is my second choice for the weekly challenge "Abandoned". My actual submission is a
different shot of the same building. When the challenge was announced, I immediately thought of this abandoned building in the centre of Dundee and how I could get the right photos of it.
It is interesting how these little challenges affected the way I take pictures. I usually do sort of a lazy travel photography. As I go somewhere on holiday, I take my camera, walk around I take pictures of interesting landscapes or buildings. I find photo subjects as I go, without much planning (unless I come back to a place I know). Then, when I get back home, I try to improve what I get in post processing.
This time, when I decided to take part in the challenge, I knew exactly, what picture I was going to take and what processing to use to get the effect I intended from the beginning. I knew it had to be B&W. It wouldn't work in colour. I also knew I had to put a lot of contrast and structure into it, mimicking a hard-grade photo paper of the old days.
I'm really enjoying this approach to photography.
