Thanks, we got lucky the eagle after leaving the nest decided to fly directly over our heads. I could have thrown a stone and hit it. He/she, I can't tell them apart, must have been curious as to why we had watch it for so long.

It looks like he/she has zombie eyes with the membrane closed in the first photo.
