A funny thing happened at La Jolla Cove today while I was there to grab some photos. This Seagull drops straight out of the sky directly in front of me and posed for some pictures.



Then he walked over to another photog' ...



... and posed for him.

Does moment of lift-off count as a BIF - the talons are clearly no longer gripping a branch.
My best guess at ID is Sharp-shinned Hawk - it is considered "uncommon" in these parts but not unknown. it was hunting small birds - this hawks favourite lunch.
Shot right in my own backyard - all my 'other' BIF"s were a blur - one I'll post to "almost a picture".
