These are far from the sharpest or cleanest images but I think it this case its the subject that counts more and I was happy to capture the moment. First time visiting this nature reserve on the Northumbria coast and there were at least three of these beauties flying around. Fairly grey overcast light this evening so plan on going back at golden hour some point soon when the suns out.

You are right about the subject being more important but dont apologies for the quality they are great captures.

First time visiting this thread - wow so many great captures. Guess i'm gonna have to take the training wheels off (tripod) and give it a try. Seems very intimidating trying to get focus on the birds in flight.

If you have Gulls in your area try them to learn on.

Like Mike said; gulls are good practice.

And if you got them in your area, a very simple trick to improve your odds at good shots; bring bread.

Thanks Mike, I appreciate that. It was a real bonus seeing them as I had no idea it was a good spot for owls.Will be making as many return trips as I can manage.
