Thank you -- still more luck than ability, I fear, but I keep at it.
Craig Park, here in town. Good sized lake with three feeder creeks, that are left more or less natural, and nice mature trees surrounding. Yesterday was bird busy; I counted 6 egrets, 3 great whites, a great blue, a pair of cormorants, a black crowned and 3 green herons, plus the normal resident ducks and geese. They open the gates at 7 am, so there are few people and the birds are active.
Yes. Get off at Imperial Hwy, go west to State College, go south and the entrance is on the left. There is an entrance fee (free if you have an OC Parks pass), if you want to drive in, or you can park on State College and walk in.

The other day I went with my 16-85 around and saw a bird carrying something high in the sky. I got a snap. I think his wife ordered him to get something for the nest.
