Were you trying for a BIF shot? A small bird like that I would not have had the shutter speed under 1/4000 even at close range. At 1/750th you did very well and the bit of blur you see, I would expect that if I shot that bird at that speed.

Mike i still use high speed burst,i cant see me ever changing that,i find birds in flight a bit unpredictable

No it was purely unintentional. I just happened to catch it as it left the perch. Before cropping the feeder was still visible in the shot to the left.

I don't think my camera will even go to 1/4000th second. Havent even looked to see if it can even set that fast. Even if it did I couldn't use it with my lenses and the low light I get right now at my feeders. It would push my ISO to 3200 and apparently the D90 does not do high ISO well at all.
