Re: Bird in Flight

I know what you mean Mike but I still like it also. For me that's pretty much the most difficult bird shot to capture, a bird coming at you almost dead on. I delete most of mine. I think if the wings were both horizontal it would not have worked. Hitting the go button while their was a slight rotation of the BIF with the other wing vertical saved it. In the end, nice capture, though I may have tried to pop the red/magenta colors on the pigeon(?) in post for a bit more contrast if possible because of the dull light in the background.

Actually I'll be interested to see if you have any luck Mike. As I wrote, if possible. Today I came across a heron I had not seen around these parts before with a similar shade to 'your' pigeon at least in a photo. I tried to increase the Red/Magenta as it was closest to the reddish caramel on the bird but that did not work. I increased the contrast which did not change to color I wanted to enhance but fortunately there had green foliage around the and that made the shot pop a little more.

I notice a slight rise in the, for want of a better word, crimson. Am I right in saying that the only part that that is not quite right is the head being a little blurry? Everything else, the flare of the tail feathers, the composition, angles of the wings, all really work.

Yes its the blurry head that spoils it for me,i like everything about the position and angle.
