Thanks Dave hand held,i find it a bit easier now i use the black rapid strap, the camera is only in my hands when ime taking pictures so my arms dont get as tired.
This shot is nothing short of miraculous. I was approaching a group of ducks by boat and intended taking a photo of one sitting on the water. However, when I got to about 15 feet from them, they took off and I just had time to swing the camera up and round and snap. I was expecting a totally blurred shot or, at best, a bird with its head cut off. 300mm at 15 feet doesn't leave much room for error.
Photo rotated 2° and cropped in consequence but otherwise as taken.
Here's a couple from a trip to the West Highlands of Scotland last weekend.
Fulmer
I think this is a first winter Great black-backed gull but all juvenile gulls tend to look the same to me.
I like the second shot as its one of my first attempts at a BIF shot with a slower shutter speed. With practice I hope to be able to get some decent shots at even slower speeds like 1/30th.
