Re: Bird in Flight

I watched this Heron for about 20 minutes hoping he would do some fishing and I could get a shot of his catch. All of a sudden he decided he had had enough and took off. As soon as I saw him move I pointed and shot. At the time I didn't even think it would be in any kind of focus or even in frame. Oh ya he was yelling at me as he flew past.

Very nice shot.. It would be even better (IMHO) if you were able to get that cable out via lightroom or photoshop etc.

I really like the detail of the bird...

Thanks Scott. Glad I got the name right! :victorious: ;)

Actually didn't think it would turn out that well as I was shooting stationary birds at the time and that one took off about 30 meters away. Point, shoot, fingers crossed.
Haha yes you did, I am pedantic with names lol so a Galah is a Galah lol. Never heard of them called a red breasted let alone a rose breasted, knew them as pink and greys aswell though. They have many names. But in all great photos and yes its the ones that you don't expect that you need to be ready for.

They do have many names and yes I grew up with calling them Gallahs/Galahs. I really am only as stupid as I look : ). Living in Sth East QLD I too can get bird shots off my front deck and have ponds and wetlands within 5 mins of my house. As for the unexpected, I stood under a power line and waited for 10 minutes. There was a whole flock of 'Gallahs' to choose from.
Duck in flight I took before I went to work this morning.
