Im no Uk gull expert , but heres what I dug up , Bonapartes sometimes occurs there a ways , not so common , what is reasonably common is Black headed gulls, these have bicolored looking bills and some dark smudgey areas around the neck which points me at the black headed. Theres also Mediterranean gull, but I dont the the bill is right nor the dark hood pattern. So my call is a first cycle black -headed gull. Theres a page called GRO gull research organization which has a bunch of good picks for your gulls to be compared to , listed-shown by age ( which helps a lot) GRo_Org

Thanks! I was confused by the black tail tips and a strange pattern on the back, but, of course, a juvenile bird can look quite different.

Re: Bird in Flight

My wife & I have been stalking some Buzzards that live near by - Last night we must have wandered close to their nest as one of them was circling above and shouting at us! These are cropped.... When is the 200-500 F5.6 out again? ;)

He landed briefly on this high power line, but the buzzing of the line did not sit well with him, so he was outa' there! :)

I'll post more in my personal thread.
