Yeah.. Green Herons are great little birds... Every one I've ever shot has been stalking food, and they freeze in that position, posing... for long periods of time... their concentration is something to watch... I've never gotten one when they strike because they out-wait me... 🤣
I usually get a blur when they strike. We have a pair of little ones at Wako right now. They're venturing far from the nest these days.

Yeah...They're one of those birds where it's best to video them at a fairly high frame rate...and then pull that single image out of the sequence where the splashing is frozen and hopefully they've speared their prey in their beaks...

These prothonotary warblers are relatively rare in our area. There were quite a few nesting in the Francis Beidler Forest. This is an Audubon sanctuary nearby that has quite a bit of boardwalks over a Tupelo, Cypress swamp. I've been several times over the last several years, and this the most I've ever seen there. Of course, we have been going mainly in the fall and winter, but we have been there in the spring. One of the workers said this was the most they have seen in a while.
