Was surprised to be able to get so close to this Green Heron. It walked closer to me while hunting for food. Only cropped a little. Tried to be in a position where the light would somewhat fall on its face. Center-weighted metering with +0.7 over exposure to compensate for the bright water. I much prefer center-weighted metering over matrix metering. If I had used matrix metering, I'm pretty sure this would have been under exposed quite a bit.
Every evening several dozen black vultures roost in the trees surrounding our local diner, and every morning they warm themselves on the more open surfaces before taking off for the day. I wish I had a longer lens, because most of them roost - and take off from - terrific heights, too high for good BIF pictures from me. But a few always get a bit lower down, at least for a while....
