I sat waiting all camo'd up for a Kingfisher to turn up at a known perch when I heard a noise in the reeds.

I took this photo, but didn't identify it. No Kingfishers turned up, so left disappointed until I realised this was a (young) Water Rail which isn't seen very often, so a good consolation prize.

Cormorants are very hard to photograph beccause of their all black body and needing to get the lighting just right. Nice job!

Thanks, Woody. It was across a creek from me and I kept shifting to get the light at the right angle. Every time I moved right, it turned right; left and left -- some models just don't cooperate.
