One of my favorites -- we've had them in flocks this year and they are eating me out of house and home.

I am embarassed to admit I have never noticed these in this area. Saw these at a Conservation area/Boat launch close by.

I watch the birds at our feeders, and here and there, like a lot of people. We have lots of different Sparrows at our feeder, and our old Crab Apple Tree in our front yard has been the home for many, many Sparrows, and others. It is interesting to see them building their nests, feeding the young, etc. Don't feed right, I guess for the fancy birds, but see them now and again. Hung out a Finch feeder for the first time, and have seen some beautiful Yellow Finches.

Almost didn't post this photo...compared to the other photos on here.

I'll be looking for some pictures -- and never hesitate. It's all about trying, learning, and trying again (Lord knows, I've had to try again a lot)

As for the crowned, they are common here on the west coast and rarer going east. You got a nice first winter male (rufous coloring in the crown) and a mature male in one take -- better than I have done.
