A brown heron browsing the marsh grass at our beach early this morning. It was kind of funny, it was 47º there and everyone was all bundled up, gloves, hat, the works. I was there in jeans and a short sleeve shirt. I guess when you see teens or even single digits in AZ this time of year with highs in the upper 20's or low 30's, 47º is downright balmy!

I can't really put my finger on it, but there was just something that comical looking about all of these pelicans sitting behind the rocks this morning! They were a long way off so I had to put the TC-300 on the "beast" to get this. There was a marshy island between them and me which would have afforded a much better vantage point but no way to get to it without a jon boat or waders, neither of which I had handy and was for damn sure not wading through 75 feet of hip high 50º water to get to the island to get the shot!

(I posted this also in the Post Processing thread, and thought it would be OK here, too, if no one minds.)

Seems like we feed many different Sparrows here at home, with the bird buffet. :)

This shot was taken in front of our home, in our Crab Apple tree. A *lot* of Sparrows call this hole/nest home, and provide enjoyment for us, just seeing the pair of Sparrows feeding the young, and daily antics. Not too many fancy birds stop by our place, and I have actually become fond of the Sparrows. (Don't tell anybody.) My imagination led me to believe that this Sparrow was checking out where he was born...hence the title below.

I caught it looking in the hole, and perhaps into it's past...
