I am thinking of putting up a hummingbird feeder this year but I can't find a feeder with a hummingbird glued to the perch to attract more hummers. What's up with that?

The last company I know of, in Germany, closed last year when Claus the feather man retired. I made thi one with a bird I pulled out of an 18th c automaton I bought at a yard sale. Had to touch up the colors and oil the gearing, but other than that it works a treat.

the hummers are there for the food, any other hummers they will try to run them off. If there are hummers in the area and you give them good fresh food they will reward you many times over.

I never shoot photos of birds but I admit it was a lot of fun to try -- even if it was just seagulls at my local riverside.
