Way out of my comfort zone when it comes to photographing an airshow. I'm used to landscapes/travel with occasional wildlife. However, it's always good to try something new and challenging - taking photos with all of the fast action and noise going on. Plus, the distances required me to use the upper half of the Nikon 55X300mm zoom's reach while hand-holding the camera.
Patuxent River Naval Base, Maryland - Airshow - June 2018.
Pilot Rob Holland and his MXS-RH carbon fiber stunt plane fly inverted past the fire wall, about 100 feet off the ground.
I cropped this to get rid of a fire truck parked by the runway. I took about 300 photos over 2 days, and this is one of about 20 "keepers".
Just some quick snaps form this years air show at Avalon Australia, stinking hot day at 38c and the heat haze wreaked most of the jet action in the distance, last photo shows what I mean.
