Why is it that the shot with the nice delicate tip dip is the one that's always out of focus?

Would have been a cool shot -- I was trying to hold the branch still in the wind with my left hand, while leaning in to focus, holding the 300 in my right.

First photo post. Was going for 3D effect with the left flower, when the small bee fly wandered in for his photo opportunity and he moved to the exact position I was looking for, but he flew off before I could get him fully in focus. No post processing except a crop.

Roy, it was looking and looking, then all of a sudden, it took off. It didn't get any lunch.

My Green Heron. Saw him fly in and around the pond we have in the back yard, which is about half an acre big. I saw him come around and land in the trees near where I was patiently waiting for a Common Yellowthroat to make an appearance. I got the Heron in focus, and forgot I had the flash on for the warbler, and accidently took the shot. Green's are so skittish.

The bluebirds were hoping all over gobbling up worms and grubs, but it's just too overcast and gray for a crisp shot

I thought what a great subject for the weekly challenge, an insect is drinking water, But I was shaking to much so the sharpness is gone.

I saw "BIF" and as you can imagine it I was to slow to focus and they were gone far away when I pressed the button

Great shots though! There have been perhaps a few dozen shots in my life that were so perfect that I suffered "Buck Fever" as the subject moved into view and messed up the image with hand shake. Likewise, my wife was once shooting video of an awesome scene and when pulling back on the view ..... shut off the video camera.

Shooting a Ruby Throat on a branch right after a rain shower, and he did this to me. Red spot in the lower right hand quadrant.
