It seems that all sorts of weird gizmos have decided to bite the dust yesterday and today. First, my printer of 6 years decided it wasn't going to print anymore, talk to the network, and just generally roll over, die, with Xs in the eyeballs, so to speak. I went out and got another printer, so today's photo is one of my two, new acquisitions. After looking at the photo, I had to laugh. Notice the antique Tiffany desk lamp on the left side of the photo. What's wrong with this picture? It has a compact fluorescent bulb. That is just not right. :) Anyway, I spent most of my day re-organizing my little home office so I could set up my nice new printer. Then the ancient paper shredder decided it had shred it's last this afternoon. Out I had to go for another one.

What printer is that, looks like the one I bought recently. HP 7520. Really impressed with it.

the bulb and lamp is funny, wouldn't have noticed the bulb.

Kevin,
You guessed it! Nice printer, cool whiz-bang features, and takes up more tabletop real estate than its predecessor.

I really like it, way more features than I will ever use but I like that I can print from my iPhone, Ipad and such. I also sent a few BW pictures to it using the free sample paper I got. I was impressed with the print out as well.

It doest take up real estate

It is a nice printer, but I had to rearrange things so that it would fit and be useable in my tiny, little, home office.

I saw this female downy woodpecker making the rounds on a tulip maple. I ended up stalking this little guy and had fun watching her and taking this series of photos.

I have been trying to get a small bird in flight other than the birds that flit around my bird feeder.. It has taken quite a while, but I did get this robin taking off this afternoon. It was totally a lucky shot, but I will take it anyway. :)

Today, I stalked fungus instead of birds. Below are two photos of matchstick lichen. The first one is of some mature lichen. It is last year's crop. The second one are the newbie matchstick lichen for this year. When the totally mature, they are no more than 1/2" long, and usually shorter than that. Yes, they are very small. :)

Love the woodpecker shots my friend! I've never seen one that pretty before! Great catch! :D

Hi Bill,
Thanks. Downy woodpeckers are usually so shy, that is why I enjoyed photographing this one. Once in a while I will see a male downy, but he doesn't usually hang around long enough for me to get even a single photo.

Today was absolutely gorgeous outside. The temperature was perfect, the sky was blue, and it was just lovely. This is how spring should be.

After a long, cold, and dreary winter, it was great to see green things popping out. I was walking around outside and saw this honeysuckle bush just starting to open.

On the same walk, I looked up and saw how the sun was coming through the pine needles. I really liked how they seemed to glisten.

I have spent a good portion of my spring break this week cleaning out and re-organizing my late husband's office. I have turned it into a library/study. It no longer looks like leftovers from his grad school days. I still have a lot of work to do and things of Gary's to go through, but at least the room is now usable. Even the cats seem happier and calmer. It is probably the only room in the house, besides the bathroom that does not have any real techno gizmos in it. It's like the State Parks: "take out what you bring in."

I am really enjoying the room. It was worth the effort, sore muscles, and sciatica flare-up.

A Work in Progress

Good for you. Sometimes rearranging our clutter makes things simpler. Once a year I try to rearrange my cabinet shop to be more efficient or just to make more sense. Suppose I should tackle my home office next. Thanks to your inspiration I think I will.

Ron,

Thanks. I still need to attack my home office but that will be easier now that I will have a place to put all my knitting and photography books.

A close friend of mine who lives nearby has been checking my progress daily since Friday. She was absolutely amazed at how the room was transformed. I am enjoying it immensely.

Hi Vixen,

Thanks. It was a lot of work. I still have stuff to do, but the major part is done. I, too, love how the room came out. It is just the way I was hoping it would turn out. Even the cats love it. :)
