After about 7" of snow, and getting dug out, I went out today to get some after the snow photos.

If you are wondering, its icicles on one of a set of four transformers. I just liked the abstractness of it.

12-16-13:

Today, I think all the pigeons in Broome County were on the electric lines and highway street lights this afternoon. I always find it interesting how they cluster on lights, utility poles, and wires. Below is one group that I saw when I pulled in to the grocery store parking lot.

12-17-13:

I put my phone down on the seat of the bench in the living room. Alex heard the sound that I had received a text message. She figured that was her cue to try and take my phone. She didn't get too far. I like this one because of the reflection of Alex on the screen.

13-12-18:

I didn't have much time today to get any interesting photos, but did snap this one of Alex, the feline model. She does love to pose for the camera.

12-19-13:

Well the new neighbors next door finally got electric service connected to their new house. They were hoping to have it done and moved in before Thanksgiving. Well, better late than never. The utility company, NYSEG had to replace the old pole with a new one, and transfer all the lines. Here they were, very busy. If you look closely you can see the old pole (shorter) and the new pole (taller). We were without electricity for about 20 minutes. Not bad.

12-20-13:

I noticed the cat staring at the ceiling. Usually, the cat stares at the ceiling and I haven't the foggiest idea what she's looking at. This time, it was this spider. YUCK! It's one of those jumping spiders. It actually circumvented the whole living room ceiling. This spider is about the size of a dime, including the legs. It is really not that large. According to the spiders Website, Spiders of New York this guy is a bold jumping spider. Fine. It can be bold someplace else.

Every year I get a new Christmas ornament. This year its a frog with articulated legs.

12-22-13:

Today was one of those days that I really had no idea what to photograph. The weather is lousy: rainy and dreary; and I have a nasty chest cold (sucks to get sick just before a holiday ), so today's photo is more of a desperation shot than anything... a cup of tea. I did enjoy the tea, though. It was jasmine tea.

My 14-year old son has recently been working to learn the bagpipe portion of Paul McCartney's Mull of Kyntire. I'll ask him to dedicate his next practice session to your speedy recovery.

12-23-13:

I am definitely feeling a lot better than yesterday. I guess that cup of tea did help. Even though it was raining outside this morning, the bird feeder was a very busy place this morning. There had to be at least a dozen chickadees and a few nuthatches in the tree with the feeder. Along with that bunch, was a pair of tufted titmice in a tree about 20 feet away from the feeder. The birds were really busy stuffing themselves with seeds. The rain did not seem to bother them. Here are two photos that I took while watching them flitting around. The third photo is of one tufted titmouse. I wish it was sharper.

I love this one because it captured one bird leaving and another arriving, with the third, just chowing down, not seeming to notice a thing.

Thanks. I only know it as a Christmas cactus because it blooms around this time of year. Other than that, I don't know.
