Today was one of those generally stupid days with a very stupid meeting at the end of the day. So, since my brain was not functioning and my creative streak was on hold, so I decided to take a couple of photos of the more obvious objects right in front of me. :)

Weird days at work sometimes make for weird, oddball photos at home...

This is the lampshade base of an antique Tiffany desk lamp that I have. I love this little lamp.

I see this guy every time I sit in my recliner. It's a little bronze crane on a green marble ashtray as its base. I use the ashtray to put my mug of tea on. It makes a great coaster. :)

Although it was a rather cloudy, gloomy day today, I was able to get a few photos.

The birds at the bird feeder were really busy this afternoon, and the tree had at least 8 or 10 birds in it at any one time. Here are a couple of them:

I came home this afternoon and saw the neighbor's house had been delivered in two pieces. Somehow, I expected something different when I was told it was a prefab home. Oh well.

Seems like a great idea LOL Hubby and I joke all the time about building another house out back to find quiet from the chaos of the monsters hehe maybe they planned on 2 half houses LOL

On a serious note OMG the mud is going to be horrendous!

Definitely, and the the parcel of land these people bought catches everyone's runoff because it is at the low spot between two hills. Our lawn is awful in the spring, but that parcel is a veritable swamp in the spring.

I took advantage of a really beautiful late fall day today. While I was traversing around, I came across a few interesting (at least I thought so :) ) photos.

The first thing I noticed was this tractor junkyard. It was huge. I never saw so many derelict tractors in one spot before. Truly impressive. I really wish I had brought my 18-55mm lens with me but I didn't think I'd need it. :(

I then noticed some cows on the side of the hill. It's not as if we don't have cows around here. This is upstate New York we are talking about. Yes, it's rural, and no, I cannot see the Empire State Building from my house. I'd have to travel about 200 miles due east for that view. :)

What You Lookin' At?

I noticed that there was one Holstein cow among the herd of brown cows.

When I got home, I noticed that we had some new visitors to the bird feeder: downy woodpeckers! I did see two of them at once. They were more interested in the bugs and grubs under the tree bark than the sunflower seeds in the feeder. It seems like we are getting quite a variety of fall/winter birds this year. Yay!

I have noticed that nuthatches seems to have major attitude. They also don't like to share, unless it's another of their nuthatch brethren.

Sometimes my mind sees things in odd ways...

I looked out the kitchen window this evening and noticed this last vestige of warm weather rather stuck on the window. The underside of a moth is rather weird looking, that's for sure. :)

This potato chip was taken using available light. I did a minimum of post processing (i.e.: just a little cropping). Actually, it's not as dark yellow as the photograph depicts. I liked it better this way rather than the flash version, or adjusting the color balance.

Rain and a long, dark driveway have kept all the trick or treaters from coming to our door. Oh, well. Okay, now to today's photo. I have had this little, handmade house for many years and decided that it would be a perfect object to photograph on Hallowe'en.

I saw this ladybug crawling around on the living room window a little while ago. Actually, we have a couple of them in the house right now. They have been on the windows or flying around the light over the dining room table. One of our cats is always looking at the ceiling, thinking she sees something. At least now, she actually is. :)

This was taken using my D7000, AF 105 f/2.8 Micro-Nikkor, iso=400, f/8, on-camera flash. I really do love this lens.

After looking at the photo I posted (post #1018), I thought I would tweak it a little in Aftershot Pro and use selective color.

I was going through a bookcase this afternoon and came across this pincushion full of vintage hatpins. There are some oldies but goodies. :)
