Here are a several more photos I forgot to upload. I warned you all that this was a day to make up for the previous few.

A number of years ago, the city, along with state and federal funds, decided to clean up a really icky part of the city along the Chenango River. They created the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Promenade. I took a walk through it today and it is really quite nice. It's definitely an asset to the city.

When you turn to the right and walk along the sidewalk, there are many plaques along the way.

Some may have heard of or remember about the mass shooting at the American Civic Association in Binghamton. I say that because it made national news for several days. I had a student who's mother worked at the nursing home right near by and he was very concerned about his mother that day. I can't blame him. Anyway, a very nice memorial was erected near the civic association in remembrance of the more than a dozen people who died. This is a photo of that memorial. Yes, you do see a pair of flip flops in front of one of the markers. That was deliberate from what I understand.

Yucky, hot, humid day, so I took a walk around here and found the following flora.

This yellow flower is cinquefoil. I've seen it before but never knew what it was called until I looked it up today. It is a very pretty, soft yellow, with the added insect, of course. :)

Okay, back to the nightshade. Belladonna in any form is still belladonna. I'm waiting for the fruit to get their distinctive dark purple color.

I have no idea what this plant is. The flowers were yellow. I thought I saw somewhere that it's called "false dandelion" but I'm not sure. I have to research this one more. If someone knows, please let me know.

I thought the seed version was really interesting. It is almost a perfect sphere and larger than a dandelion puff.

Okay, now to wait for the mass of predicted thunderstorms this evening. All the heavy rain we have been having lately has affected my internet connection several times. That gets very frustrating. Hopefully, it won't happen this time.

Since the rain has not stopped since it started last night, I figured that this afternoon would be a good time to catch up on photographing some of my recently completed knitting projects. Below are two scarves that I finished a few weeks ago but never got around to recording their looks. These scarves are part of the half-dozen or so scarves I make every year as extras and make great birthday and holiday gifts without going crazy right before the holidays.

One thing that I have found when photographing small knitting projects such as scarves, socks, hats & mittens is that I get much truer color reproduction when I photograph them inside, use flash, and hang them on the old antique oak bench. The wall behind the bench is an oyster white. All I know is that I get better color balance than taking their photos outside.

I did have to laugh about one thing. I lined my camera up with the bottom of a picture frame that hangs above the bench. Somehow, I did not think to check that it was level. It wasn't, and my photos came out slightly askew. Thankfully, ViewNX2 has that straighten function. Hopefully, next time I will remember to straighten the picture first. :)

Actually, I have seen videos of this guy before. If you notice, when he turns around, he has a rectangular pouch in the back. He also has tubes going up the outside of each drone. When he gives the bag a quick squeeze a certain way, he opens up the gas jets. I would never do that with my pipes, but it is very, very cool.

Thanks for posting it.

The rain and thunderstorms took a break this morning and I took advantage of it. One result of all the rain we have been having is the blossoming of all sorts of fungi and slimy critters. That brings us to today's theme: Slimy Things!

Finally, as I was walking around, the color of these honeysuckle berries really caught my eye. I never notices the bug that was sitting on the branch until I uploaded today's batch to my computer. Weird looking little critter, if I do say so myself. :)

6-30-13: Part 1

Went for a walk with the dog this afternoon and came back with just a couple of usable photos. I wasn't too thrilled with them but here they are.

6-30-13: Part 2

Just when I was about ready to post the two photos in that are in Part 1, spousal unit told me a family of geese were walking toward our next door neighbor's pond. I grabbed my camera and went after them. By the time I got to the pond, they seemed to have disappeared. Then I noticed the gander swimming around in the pond. I got a whole bunch of photos of him, plus some video. Here are a couple of the gander.

Then I noticed this dragonfly flitting around. My husband said that it looked like the dragonfly was looking at me in the first photo.

I thought the rest of the geese were in the cattails surrounding the pond, then I heard them. They had walked around the pond and were in a grassy area near the woods. I watched these guys for about 5 or 10 minutes, and even shot some video. They were really fun to watch. Here are two of the photos.

The rain continues. :( Between downpours I was able to snap the following:

I have been following the growth of this mushroom over the past three days. When I was out with the dog this afternoon, I noticed it had been eaten by something. What? I am not sure. :)

Wormhole?

This just interested me.

A couple of days ago, this was that interesting, round seed pod thing. Today, it was drooping.

I am going to flip my barn on its roof and turn it into an ark!!! This is what the weather was doing just a few minutes ago. I opened the front door, and snapped a few. Here is one of those images.
