Although it may be spring, technically, it still wasn't that pleasant outside. :( Anyway, I have this little blue, round, handblown bottle on the shelf by the window in the living room. What intrigued me was that inverted reflected image in the stopper. I did not notice how the bottle has a definite tilt, but that adds to its character. :)

Yes, that is my front lawn in the reflection. You can see how spring is still a ways off, even if the calendar says it's here.

Although it was in the mid-20s F when I got home from work, the sun was shining, so I decided to go outside for a little bit. It is spring, as we all know. :)

I have walked passed this very sad looking bird feeder for years. It definitely is in need of renovation:

Since there were no train tracks near by, this is my view of a track... a tractor track, that is. :)

We have this pine tree in the front yard that seems to have more than its share of pine cones.

Finally, the opportunistic feline photo. Creature is always good for a shot.

UGH! Must You????

It has been a long week at work. You can tell my mind has been reduced to a puddle of gelatinous ooze, as I try to teach science to resistant adolescents. The following speaks volumes about the condition of my brain by Friday afternoon...

P.S. They were really tasty as they marched to their deaths down my gullet. :)

Today was a much better day. I went for a walk with the dog, hoping to see something green popping up through the grown ground and snow. I wasn't so lucky in that endeavour, but did get a few photos, plus a very nice walk.

This one is of a stream that I have looked at numerous times on my walks. This time, I liked what I saw:

Still Cold

I have passed this for years, both driving and walking by it. I always wanted to take a photo of it, so today, I did.

Which Wheel Steers?

According to my spousal unit, this thing is a vintage (1930s or so) rear drag plow. It was made by York Modern Corp, which is still in Unadilla, New York. My parents lived in Unadilla for close to 25 years, after moving from the metro New York area.

Ready for Snow

Finally, on the last quarter mile of my walk, I noticed these black birds flocking on the top of a tree. I have seen them there the past couple of days. Then, suddenly, they flew off. A few moments later, I noticed a hawk flying nearby. It was not until I enlarged the second photo that I realized the birds were redwing blackbirds. We have a lot of them around here.

Okay, Don, you have your wish. Below is a photo taken during A Binghamton University graduation ceremony. I am the one on the left. The person on the right is my friend Jeanne. She taught me how the play the pipes. We were in the same pipe band for years.

VIDEO with AUDIO

I have been trying to get my wife to let me learn how to play the bagpipe for years. For some reason she has not agreed.

Sorry. I don't have that. :( Is there a pipe band anywhere in your area? Most bands will teach people to play the pipes if they want to eventually join the band.

A friend and I walked the local rail trail this afternoon. I saw a sure sign of the upcoming spring: robins! WooHoo!!

I came home this afternoon and spousal unit wanted to show me the rope score of a lifetime. It's this thick rope that is about 1" in diameter. So, guess who takes photos of it? Me, of course.

The rope was still in the back seat of the car, but I figured it was my best opportunity:

Rope Score!

And, of course, the opportunistic feline photo. Have to post at least one a week. :)

Keep to the Right, Please

should we ask what the rope is for?

I did. My spousal unit said, "You can pull the tractor with it!" very, very excitedly. Not sure why I would want to pull the tractor with that, or any rope. :) I just think he wanted to add this "really cool rope" to his mancave. He did not buy it but got it from a friend of ours who is rather a hoarder. I was surprised the guy gave it to him.

Personally, I'd rather have another lens or a faster computer, but that is just me. :)
