Will check it and see next time. But from your experience, what do you think the problem can be? If it is the lens, where is the problem? This is because this is the same lens with which I clicked the above kingfisher.

If I were you I would do some tests. Set up an object far enough away that you can get a good shot at 300mm. Take three shots hand held using say, ISO 400, and auto-focus. Choose a moderate shutter speed and fStop for the prevailing conditions (I'd probably use "P"rogram Mode for these tests). For the second set of shots mount your camera on a tripod and use the timer with a 2 second delay. Take three more the shots using the same fStop and shutter speed as you did before.
