Update:
I'm returning the camera body to the store. I'm experiencing some major/mayor (what's the correct English translation for big?) issues with the AutoFocus. Didn't bump or drop the camera, but with both of my F-mount lenses I can't focus properly anymore. Maybe the people at the store can figure out what is happening. I've tried everything. Factory reset, multiple lenses. Nothing seems to work anymore. :(

Update:
Camera is returned to the Nikon Service Center. Currently awaiting their response.
I feel naked without my camera :(

I don't take enough pictures to justify the purchase of an extra D7000 as a backup camera which would set me back another € 600 (= 751.74 U.S. dollars).

I'd rather spend that money on a smaller camera like the Fuji Film X100 (maybe the S or T) which I can carry everyday with me, instead of the rather cumbersome D7000.

Especially when I'm wandering on the streets I notice people don't bother the smaller X100 (borrowed it once from the store), but immediately become terrified or do unexpected stuff when I'm pointing the D7000 at them. Even when I'm using the small 50mm 1.8D Nikkor lens.

I guess people still think the X100 is a 'toy' camera and not a serious one.

One other 'trick' I use is that I'm using the monochrome picture style. When people notice I'm taking a picture of them and ask what I'm doing I show them the black&white image on my camera screen and tell them I'm doing some kind of "street-art-thingy". That way people don't get as angry as much when I'm shooting in color. Fun part is, the JPG on the camera screen is the JPG part of the RAW file. The RAW file itself still contains all the colors and when I'm opening the image in Adobe Lightroom I still have the complete full-color image. :)

I encounter the same problem. Even with the D3300, I can read "Newspaper front page!" in their eyes while they pay hardly any attention to the smaller cams.

Camera still away for repair. Argh... the waiting.... :(

But while the camera is away, I've got loads of time to read about using my flash and Nikon CLS :)
I've got a Nikon SB-910 speedlight and it has LOTS of features I didn't know about yet.

Next to that, I've decided that I want to try a MB-D11 battery grip on my camera. I sure could use the extra 'juice' and I've read a lot about people who say that the grip adds extra stability and is very usefull for portrait photography. So when the camera is returned, I'm gonna try that out.

I'll keep you updated.

Got a phone call today, my D7000 is re-calibrated and should be working perfectly now! Still have to wait till saturday, because I can't pick it up any time sooner. But the fact that it is waiting for me, makes me smile again.

I've bougth myself a Tamron 90mm f/2.8 Di VC USD Macro lens.
