It will have its limitations and you will have to find them, the biggest may be if you try working against the light, use the lens hood at all times,if you dont have a tripod keep the shutter speed up or rest it on something.

I hope so. :) I figured it was worth a shot for about $50.00 plus shipping. :D
Here is a little more info on it.

Gently used Sigma 300mm f5.6 AI Nikon Mount Telephoto Lens.

Good body conditon, no glass damage, haze, or dust. Reasonably sharp at f5.6 but much better at f8

NOTE: This lense will not autofocus on any Nikon cameras. It is MANUAL focus only. 300 mm with full frame camera, a whopping 450mm with a cropped sensor camera.

It will mount with all Nikon digitals and should work on film camera too but double check. Will only meter with with Nikon D2, D3, D4 D800, D800E, D700, D600, D300s, D300, D200, D7000, D7100. It will not meter with D90, D80, D70, D70s, D50, D100,D5200, D5100, D5000, D3200, D3100, D3000, D60, D40, D40x

This is okay with me, I am so use to manual foucus from the 1970s that is is like a second nature with. Although I do have AF Lenses I still have that need to reach up and focus. Old Habits are hard to break. I will have to take a gander at the Sigma Lenses again and drool over what I think I need;)
