I don't use an online storage service. Like Don, I do use an online backup service, Crashplan. This market is heating up so you can expect features to get better and prices to get lower. I think I paid an intro fee of $60/year for 10 computers unlimited backup.

How much are you looking to store and how much do you plan to grow? Why are you looking to store online vs locally?

OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox all offer competitive plans. Most of the free plans aren't enough for much data. If you're an amazon prime member, you might want to look at their benefits. I think they offer free space for pictures in some form or another. I still don't have the need but have been tempted to look at Amazon's Cloud Drive.

I also use an external local drive. This way I don't have to worry about my backup service being hacked, going out of business, or just having a failure. I also don't have it powered up unless I am actually doing a backup, which will hopefully save me from ransom hack. I also backup my really critical data (photos, tax data, etc.) on a memory stick which I store in the car (which is not parked in the garage) to protect against fire, etc. If something wipes out my home PC and my car, it will probably wipe me out to, so who cares

I use an SSD external hard drive, but all HD's fail, so I also have some on OneDrive (Microsoft, free) and Google Drive (15 GB free), plus hard disks.

My online storage is up to 6.7 TB now. That is a lot of storage. I also have a local ghost drive backup of my C:drive so that if it fails I can replace the drive and clone it and be back online in hours. The ghost backup is done every night so I am good to go. The only thing on the drive is the OS and all the programs. Users files live on a different drive (backed up every night to online) and photos are on a separate drive for me and the wife has her own drive (both backed up every night to online)
