October = Spooky?

Yup, October is the month of Halloween... Lots of channels out in the cable world go "All Scary" for the month, but IMO, there just aren't that many truly scary movies being put out these days.

The original Exorcist used to get me, but not so much any more.
The Shining was a good goose bump sort of movie...
Christine could mess a guy up.

But the question is... 1) what movies really GOT to you?

...and 2) Are there ANY decent spookies being made these days???

the Pit and the Pendulum had me scared as a kid, as did the Franky Dracula and werewolf movies, Jaws had me scared of the water for a while too.

I was 12 when I watched poltergeist. That movie scared the absolute bejesus out of me. I reckon I was traumatised for a good 3 months after that.

I love all the Nightmare on Elm st flicks. Always good for a jump and a fright

Whats the latest one that is showing ads in Australia? Something about a doll... ads look ok, but you can kinda tell they are showing most of the scary stuff in the 30 second ad

Past movies that gave me a chill or two:
Jaws
Salem Lot, the original TV mini series
Pet Sematary
Blair Witch Project
Dawn of the dead, Original.
Phantasm
Day of the dead.
The Birds
The hills have eyes.
Hell night
Evil dead, first one.
The uncut Exorcist
The first Halloween
The first couple Friday the 13
The original Texas chainsaw massacre
The 70's vampire movies
I haven't seen a newer movie that got me jumping like most of these other ones
