Not So Good News

I just want to say how much I enjoy this forum and hope to continue to do so. However I do have some bad news. For the past 3 years I have been battling cancer(melanoma stage 4) for the most part I 've been winning. Just last Nov I had some lymph nodes removed from my neck because the cancer had found it's way there. Now it has traveled to my lungs right lung in particular. I am having the tumor removed on Oct 4th this wouldn't cure it, it's just for diagnoses to calculate the intensity of the disease. Now I am not the type to lay down and dry up - I will fight it as hard as I can until I get rid of it. Frankly I have no time for it. It hasn't stopped me yet and it wouldn't now either. My wife & I will be doing a lot more travelling in the coming as months as well as doing things we had put off to do in the future. For us The future is now. So my friends if I am not around as much that is the reason why. Again this is a great forum with a lot of honest to goodness folks and I have been extremely happy to be a member and will continue to be.

Sincerely,

Sam Bruno

I had to read your news twice Sam, the first time just didnt sink in properly, as it gave me a numb feeling.

From another who has suffered cancer, I wish you all the best with it, and hope you beat it.

I had to have 30 glands removed from my neck and chest. It spread into my lungs as well, 5 spots. They blasted those away with radiation.
I am sure I have beat it now, but it took a lot of fight.

Stay strong Sam.

Sam, check out a drug called "Yervoy". They have combined it with another cancer drug and doing trials with it, There are very positive results in some Melanoma patients in Australia with their tumours shrinking dramatically.

Edit- just checked on the cost of this drug. It seems it is astronomical. They are looking at adding it to the PBS here in Australia to make it more affordable. Not sure if you have some sort of subsidy from the government over in Canada, but it may be worthwhile asking your Dr about it.

I feel sad to hear about this Sam. I hope the treatment works and you can fight it off.

In the meantime, enjoy life's only gift to us: The Present. Past and future are only in our thoughts.

Have fun!
