Wow... That went from 50oz. for 70-200 down to 28oz for the 70-180 version. That's a lot. The 180-600 only dropped 10oz. from the 200-500's 80oz.

Well...they're just pushing the envelope a little by moving that 20mm into the 180-600

So the basic trinity becomes the 24-70, 70-180, 180-600..

they're trying ti get that 70-180 user to go for the 180-600

Not really. At that far telephoto you may barely notice the difference between the framing of 180mm and 200mm.

If you watch Chris Niccols' review on Petapixel he "accidentally" keeps wanting to call it a Tamron lens. Because it is not so cleverly rebranded from Tamron. On the plus side, Chris holds the Tamron 70-180mm mirrorless lens in high regard.
