Nikon SC29 flash cord

Hi Guys,
I have just purchased a (thought it was a bargain at the time) SC29 flash cord from e-bay for my SB600 flash. Upon testing I have found that the red AF assist lamps are out of position, by that I mean the "cross" of red light is above the centre focus point. When I use my SB600 on the camera the centre focus point is bang in the middle. This obviously means I am getting out of focus shots. Is there a way to tune the lamps or any other fix available? Thanks in anticipation.

Hi, if I understand you correctly, yes, with the af-ill switch in the off position the af illuminator on the flash lights up only and in the on position the af illuminator on the sc29 lights up only, as it should.
